NOTICE OF FACULTY VACANCY
Associate Director of Choral Activities

POSITION: Full-time appointment, Associate Director of Choral Activities

RANK/SALARY: Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track appointment, Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as Associate Director of Choral Activities; maintain a visible and active profile of performance and scholarly activity and cultivate relationships with professional organizations; participate in shaping the vision of the Choral Program and engage in mentoring colleagues and developing new programs; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music, literature, and conducting and other topics related to the candidate's expertise; conduct University Singers, a 60-voice SATB ensemble of undergraduate and graduate music majors; prepare major choral/orchestral works for annual performances in professional venues; observe graduate rehearsals and recitals, adjudicate graduate exit exams; engage in scholarship/creative activity, service, and recruiting; contribute to an active graduate performance and research culture; engage in appropriate service to the College, the University, and the profession.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in music and/or equivalent professional experience with established reputation as performer, scholar and/or teacher required. Outstanding conductor, teacher, and choral scholar capable of inspiring advanced and beginning students. Demonstrated excellence in conducting and teaching in a collegiate setting. Ability to develop and maintain local and regional relationships with high-school music teachers. Willingness and ability to work in a team setting.
